Eurosport enters e-commerce market with launch of Eurosport Shop

Eurosport, the number one sport destination in Europe, has launched its first e-commerce platform – Eurosport Shop – giving fans direct access to clothing, footwear, equipment and accessories from hundreds of premium sports, outdoor and endurance brands.

Powered by leading online sports retailer, SportPursuit, Eurosport Shop is now live in France, Germany and the UK via dedicated local-language microsites and also fully integrated with existing Eurosport online platforms in those markets. The new e-shop will provide sports enthusiasts with access to hundreds of high-quality sports brands, including the likes of Endura, GoPro, Cube and Columbia.

The new retail platform adds to the services currently available to Eurosport’s millions of website users which, along the Eurosport app, is the only place to watch Eurosport anytime online, on mobile and on tablet devices.

Ian Woods, VP Sales, International Consumer Products, Discovery Global Enterprises, said: “The Eurosport Shop is a natural extension for the Eurosport brand, giving sports fans direct access to thousands of products that enrich their everyday lives. Our ambition is not only to serve our super fans but grow our fanbase by creating more consumer touchpoints. The Eurosport Shop underpins these aims by offering long-term cross-selling opportunities across our digital platforms, driving greater customer loyalty and engagement.”

”Eurosport’s content creates authentic emotional connections with fans, which is the perfect platform to develop strong product advocates and grow the company’s content and brand footprint across Europe,” he added.

Sameer Pabari, SVP, Content & Business Development, Eurosport Digital, commented: “Following the Olympic Winter Games PyeongChang 2018, during which a record breaking 76 million users enjoyed the Games online, on social and through the integrated Eurosport app, our digital platforms continue to go from strength-to-strength. Eurosport continues to grow and engage fans on every screen and device, with the Eurosport Shop now adding even more value for our loyal fans.

“Sports enthusiasts can now find their favourite apparel and equipment brands just a click away from the latest news, results and video content relating to the sports that fuel their passion on a daily basis. The brands and products available align with our core programming and content offer with a strong focus on cycling and winter sports, further enhancing our position as the home of these sports across Europe.”

Adam Pikett, CEO & Founder, SportPursuit added: “This is a game-changing partnership between two brands that are loved by sports enthusiasts across Europe. We’re delighted to be able to offer Eurosport’s huge community of fans access to our unrivalled selection of top sport and outdoor brands, with the aim of inspiring more people to discover products they will love through the combination of amazing content and e-commerce.”

Last month Eurosport unveiled its first-ever branded clothing range for consumers as the Eurosport GC Collection, aimed at cyclists of all levels, launched in the UK. Now cycling enthusiasts in France and Germany can also purchase the full collection via the local Eurosport Shop sites in these countries.
