Eurosport teams-up with Peter Sagan for exclusive Tour de France content campaign

BORA - hansgrohe' rider to answer fans questions throughout the Tour de France via Eurosport TV and Digital platforms.

Want to ask a world champion cyclist a question during the world’s most famous cycling event?

Now cycling fans across the continent can thanks to an exclusive content partnership between Eurosport – the Home of Cycling – and UCI road world champion Peter Sagan for the upcoming Tour de France.

The collaboration will see Peter Sagan, who will be racing for the BORA – hansgrohe team at this year’s event, answering questions directly from fans during each day of Eurosport’s live Tour de France coverage. Questions will be curated from social media platforms with the most interesting that include the hashtag #AskSagan being selected by Peter himself to answer on-air.

In addition to watching Peter Sagan’s responses during Eurosport’s TV coverage, which this year for the first time includes every minute live, fans will be able to follow the #AskSagan initiative on Eurosport.com and Eurosport’s Facebook, Twitter and Instagram pages, plus Peter’s personal Facebook and Twitter accounts.

Peter Sagan has competed in the Tour de France on five occasions and won the points classification every time, the only rider in history to achieve this feat. The 2017 Tour will be Peter’s first with the BORA – hansgrohe’ team and he will be looking to match Erik Zabel’s record of six maillot vert wins and add to his seven stage victories at the world’s biggest bike race.

Commenting on the initiative, Peter Sagan said: "I'm delighted to partner with Eurosport for this project that will further connect fans and spectators with the great sport of cycling. Be creative, ask me your questions using the #AskSagan hashtag and I will reply to the best ones every day during the Tour de France."

Laurence Schirrecker-Mothes, Global Head of Cycling Production at Eurosport, said: “Peter is the most recognisable and charismatic rider in the peloton – he truly transcends the sport – so we are delighted to be partnering with him. His success, style and fun-loving attitude has earned him a global fan base and we are thrilled that our viewers across Europe, and around the world via our digital platforms, will get the chance to put their questions to him during the Tour.”

The #AskSagan campaign will kick-off with an exclusive Facebook Live event on Thursday June 29 in Dusseldorf on the eve of the 104th Tour de France. Fans should like the Eurosport Facebook page, and follow Peter Sagan’s social media accounts, for further information.

This year cycling fans across Europe will benefit from up to 25 hours of additional live Tour de France coverage on Eurosport including, for the very first time, every minute live.

Live on-air coverage of the Tour de France will be supported by additional features on the Eurosport Player – the all-access on-demand digital pass that allows you to direct your own race by picking up to five additional on-course camera views.
