• Last four Swedish Olympic Winter Games flag bearers part of Eurosport’s coverage in Sweden
• All-star lineup underlines commitment to premium and locally relevant programming

She is one of Sweden's most beloved sports stars and has a medal record in the major championships that few can match.

Now biathlon icon Magdalena Forsberg has joined Eurosport Sweden’s team of past legends for the Olympic Winter Games PyeongChang 2018, which includes an array of Swedish winter sports royalty.

With the addition of Magda, Sweden’s flag bearers from the past four Olympic Winter Games – Peter Forsberg, Anders Sodergren, Anja Paerson and now Magdalena Forsberg – will be experts during the Olympic Winter Games Pyeongchang 2018. This recruitment policy underlines Eurosport’s commitment to working with premium local talent who will offer the best analysis for viewers across Sweden.

Swedish broadcast personalities Per Elofsson, Jonas Karlsson, Jessica Almenas and Karin Frick will also form part of the Eurosport Sweden team in South Korea.

Magdalena Forsberg's track record in biathlon speaks for itself. Six-time world champion, six times winner of the World Cup, double Olympic medalist and the only athlete to have won the prestigious Jerringpriset prize in Sweden on four separate occasions times having being voted “Athlete of the Year” by the Swedish public.

After hanging up the skis, ‘Magda’ continued to work in biathlon as she commentated on the sport for ARD at the Olympic Winter Games in Turin 2006 and was recently commentator on Swedish State Television, SVT. Forsberg joins Discovery Networks Sweden and Eurosport's Olympic Games team where she will provide unique insights as a commentator for the biathlon alongside the award-winning Roberto Vacchi.

Magdalena Forsberg said: “It will be incredibly fun to work at an Olympic Games again - this will be my third as an expert. The Olympics is special for any athlete, and for me it will be even more fun to work with Eurosport. I know Peter [Forsberg], Anja [Paerson], Per [Elofsson] and many others within the Eurosport team from my career.”

After several years without success in the discipline of biathlon, Sweden is once again on the verge of a golden period with young talents such as Hanna Öberg, Anna Magnusson and Sebastian Samuelsson set to take the world by storm.

Emir Osmanbegovic, Sports Director at Discovery Networks Sweden, said: “Magdalena Forsberg is a beloved icon and a knowledgeable expert and we are pleased and proud that she has chosen to join our team. For us, she is the best possible expert in biathlon. We´re eleven months away from the Olympic Winter Games PyeongChang 2018, but already we have a super team.”

The Olympic flame will be lit in PyeongChang February 9th, 2018 and the games will be broadcast on Discovery-owned free-to-air Kanal 5, Kanal 9 and Eurosport 1, Eurosport 2 and the Eurosport Player.
