Eurosport and TESN join forces

Faced with escalating sport rights costs, 1993 saw Eurosport and The European Sports Network (TESN) agree to join forces and to provide one single program service under the name Eurosport. The merger with TESN, which included such networks as Screensport, TV Sports and Sportkanal, saw the launch of the first ever single pan-European sports channel on the Astra and Eutelsat II satellites and offered simultaneous commentaries in German, English, Dutch and French.
